Oregon State Beavers vs. Washington Huskies: NCAA Football Free Betting Pick

Two schools that like to run the football, No. 17 Huskies (-33) are preparing to meet the Oregon State Beavers in Washington. This conference matchup will get going at 4:30 p.m. ET and Pac-12 Networks is scheduled to broadcast the action. When these two teams met last year, Washington knocked off Oregon State by five touchdowns 42-7.

Oregon State is a big road underdog here and is currently getting 33 points from oddsmakers. Vegas has determined the over/under (O/U) to be 57.5 points, and if one school can find paydirt early on, it would likely result in a decent betting opportunity in-game.

This matchup’s line has recently moved down from -31 to where it stands now (-33). The game’s O/U has yet to change after it was set initially at 57.5.

The Beavers fell to Stanford 48-17 in a thumping where the defense allowed the Cardinal to pass for 352 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 244 yards and three scores. Colby Parkinson was on a different level for the Cardinal in that one with 166 yards and four touchdowns on six catches. On the offensive side, the Beavers completed 17-of-35 passes for 236 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Jake Luton went 14-for-26 for 205 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while Conor Blount completed three-of-nine for 31 yards. Jermar Jefferson (109 yards on 19 rush attempts) led the running attack. Trevon Bradford (five receptions, 120 yards, one TD) and Isaiah Hodgins (three catches, 37 yards) shared the receiving duties in the defeat.

The Washington Huskies just earned a 27-23 win over Stanford. The defensive secondary let the Cardinal air it out for 347 yards and two touchdowns. Kaden Smith had a good showing in the loss, recording 107 yards on eight catches for Stanford. For Washington, Jake Browning completed 16-of-27 passes for 194 yards and one touchdown. Myles Gaskin (148 yards on 28 rush attempts, one TD) led the running game as Aaron Fuller (five receptions, 62 yards) and Ty Jones (three catches, 28 yards) led the pass-catching corps in the win.

Oregon State has run the ball on 54.3 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Washington has a rush percentage of 59.2 percent. The Beavers have run for 168 yards per game (including 149 per game versus Pac-12 opponents) and have 22 scores on the ground this year. The Huskies are logging 169 rushing yards per game (172 in conference) and have 18 total rush TDs.

It seems like the Huskies might hold an advantage in all aspects of the ground game, since their backfield has produced 4.2 yards per carry while the defense is allowing a YPC of 3.6 to opponents. The Beavers have ran for 4.0 yards per carry while allowing 6.9 yards per rush attempt to opponents.

The Beavers offensive scheme has averaged 248 yards in the air overall (219 per game against conference opposition) and has 14 passing TDs so far. The Huskies have put up 238 pass yards per outing (195.4 against Pac-12 competition) and also have 14 total pass scores.

Oregon State has allowed opponents to run for an average of 272 yards and throw for 271 yards per game. The Washington D has given up 189.2 yards per game to opposing passers and 124.3 yards per game to opposing runners. The Huskies are giving up an adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) of just 4.96 to opponents, while the Beavers have allowed a whopping 9.14 ANY/A.

Offensively, Luton is up to 887 passing yards this year. He’s completed 70-of-110 attempts with six scores through the air and two interceptions. Luton’s got a 7.44 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number sits at 5.85 over the past two outings.

Jake Browning has completed 157-of-243 passes for 2,095 yards, 12 TDs and seven INTs for Washington. His ANY/A stands at 7.44 for the year and 5.72 across his past two games.
