Travis Wilson and the No. 13 Utah Utes take on Seth Collins and the Oregon State Beavers in a game that will feature two of the best players in the Pac-12. Utah (6-1) enters this game hoping to add to its positive record, while Oregon State (2-5) will aim to get a much-needed victory. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct 31 and will be available on PACN.
In last week’s matchup, Utah lost to USC 42-24. Britain Covey had a great game in the loss, grabbing seven receptions for 129 yards and two TDs. Oregon State also came up short, losing to Colorado 17-13. Jordan Villamin had a solid performance for the Beavers, pulling in four receptions for 65 yards. Victor Bolden put up 60 receiving yards on three catches.
The Over/Under (O/U) for the matchup is unavailable currently and the Beavers are a big 21-point underdog.
Sitting at 6-1 Straight Up (SU) and 4-3 Against The Spread (ATS), the Utes will look to improve heading into Week 9. In their five most recent matchups, the Utes went 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS. When the Utes pass the ball, they do so at a high percentage. They complete passes 69.2% of the time they throw, 10th in the nation. Turning to the Utes defense, there are several areas to keep an eye on. The Utes have a passing defense in the top half of the country (in terms of opponent completion percentage), but can move up in the ranks when they face off against Oregon State. The Beavers have a completion percentage of just 48.0%, ranking them 119th in the country. The Beavers need to put emphasis on preparing for Utah’s sneaky defense. It currently averages the third-most interceptions per game with 1.9. The Utes hope to continue the trend of torching Oregon State’s defense during the second quarter, when they allow 13.4 points per game. Penalties aren’t likely to cost Utah this week’s game. They earn the 10th-fewest penalties among Division I teams, averaging only 4.4 per game.
In the other locker room, the Beavers head into Week 9 with records of 1-6 ATS and 2-5 SU. Over their last five games, the Beavers have a SU and ATS record of 1-4 for those betting with them. Averaging 176.6 yards receiving over its last five games, Oregon State’s receivers have turned it on lately. For the season, they’ve only averaged 153.1 yards per game. Over the last five games, the Beavers turned it up on defense, only allowing an average of 227.4 passing yards per game.
Predictions: SU Winner – Utah, ATS Winner – Utah
