Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Miami Hurricanes Betting Prediction

The Scarlet Knights will be hoping for similar success after defeating the Boston University Terriers in their last matchup, 54-44. The Scarlet Knights had a free throw rate of 0.232 (above their season average of 0.170) and held the Terriers to an offensive rebounding percentage of 16.2 (below their season average of 30.2). Rutgers rallied around Eugene Omoruyi, who was the top scorer from either team with 20 points on 6-for-12 shooting.

In the Hurricanes’ previous outing, they let one slip away to the Seton Hall Pirates, 83-81. Seton Hall’s 21.9 offensive rebounding percentage was their biggest strength over Miami, who had a rate of 14.8. The Pirates’ mark was below their season average of 26.3, while the Hurricanes’ was below their season average of 30.5. Miami’s Zach Johnson had a good game, leading the team in scoring with 18 points on 5-for-7 shooting.

Points could be at a premium in this battle between two of the nation’s best defenses. Miami ranks 49th in defensive efficiency (98.7) and Rutgers is 11th (94.5) since the 2017-18 season. Additionally, the Scarlet Knights, who rank 316th in free throw attempt (FTA) rate (0.198), could have a tough time getting to the line against the Hurricanes, who rank 37th in opponents’ FTA rate (0.192).
