Week 14 Free Betting Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans

The Jacksonville Jaguars (+4) are heading north to visit their AFC South counterpart Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium. This Thursday game is scheduled to be nationally-televised on FOX and the opening kickoff is slated for 8:20 p.m. ET.

In this Thursday AFC game, Tennessee has been tabbed as the favorite and the team’s currently giving up 4 points. The Jaguars are also receiving +140 moneyline odds while the Titans are -160. Vegas has determined the over/under (O/U) to be 37 points, and if one team can find paydirt early, it will probably create a nice betting scenario in-game.

Sharp bettors have been leaning toward the under. This game’s O/U was initially set at 38.

The underwhelming Jaguars are 4-6-2 against the spread (ATS) and are down 8.7 units so far in 2018. They’ve been a decent under bet and have posted an O/U mark of 5-7. The Titans are up 2.9 units this season. The team is 6-6 ATS and also has an O/U record of 5-7.

The Jaguars are 4-8 straight up (SU), including 1-3 SU against AFC South opponents. The Titans are 6-6 SU overall and 2-2 SU against divisional foes.

The Jags are coming off a 6-0 victory over Indianapolis in Week 13. The passing game was sharp as Cody Kessler completed 18-of-24 passes for just 150 yards. Carlos Hyde (just 36 yards on 13 rushes) mounted the running attack while Yeldon (seven receptions, 49 yards) and Donte Moncrief (three catches, 40 yards) handled the receiving duties in the win.

Tennessee is coming off of a 26-22 win over the Jets in Week 13. Marcus Mariota completed 20-of-35 passes for 282 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Derrick Henry (40 rushing yards on 10 attempts, one TD) mounted the running game while Corey Davis (three receptions, 42 yards, one TD) and Taywan Taylor (three catches, 104 yards) led the receiving attack in the win.

Jacksonville has run the ball on 43.2 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Tennessee has an overall rush percentage of 49.7 percent. The Jaguars have run for 111 yards per game (including 82 per game versus South opponents) and have six scores on the ground this year. The Titans are totaling 113 rushing yards per game (111 in conference) and have eight total rush TDs.

The Jags offensive scheme has logged 240 yards per contest in the air overall (212 per game against conference opposition) and has 14 passing TDs so far. The Titans have recorded 219 pass yards per contest (201.3 in the AFC) and also have 14 total pass scores.

Jacksonville has allowed opponents to run for an average of 108 yards and pass for 222 yards per game. The Tennessee defense has given up 234.3 yards per game to opposing passers and 119.8 yards per game on the ground. The Jags are allowing an adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) of just 5.71 to opponents, while the Titans have given up a 6.38 ANY/A.

Offensively, Kessler is up to 306 passing yards on the year. He’s completed 72 percent of his 54 attempts with one scores through the air and one interception. He has a 3.85 adjusted net yards per pass attempt, including 4.89 over the last two outings.

On the other sideline, Marcus Mariota has completed 166-of-251 passes for 1,865 yards, nine TDs and seven INTs. Mariota’s ANY/A sits at 5.49 for the season and 8.48 across his last two outings.
