Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Titans vs. Toledo Rockets Betting Prediction

The Titans are hoping to rebound after failing to cover as 12.5-point underdogs in their 89-76 loss to the Western Michigan Broncos in their last contest. The combined points for the game (165) finished well over the O/U total of 146. Western Michigan’s 53.7 offensive rebounding percentage was their biggest strength over Detroit, who had a rate of 35.8. Antoine Davis led Detroit in scoring with 32 points on 12-for-26 shooting.

The last time the Rockets played, they won a close one over the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 87-86, despite being 15-point underdogs. The combined points for the game (173) finished well over the O/U total of 146. Toledo made good use of their 25 trips to the charity stripe, making 21 of them (84.0 percent). Oakland, on the other hand, was just 13-23 (56.5 percent). Jaelan Sanford led Toledo in scoring with 30 points on 10-for-18 shooting from the field.

The productive offense of Toledo will clash against the porous defense of Detroit. Dating back to the 2017-18 season, the Rockets rank 27th in offensive efficiency, while the Titans are 347th in defensive efficiency. The Rockets figure to have the advantage on that side of the ball. Also, the Titans rank 255th in free throw attempt (FTA) rate (0.220), while the Rockets rank 27th in opponents’ FTA rate (0.185).

Detroit has a superb record against the spread (7-1), despite being 3-6 straight up (SU). Vegas tends to set the total high when the Titans are involved, as 62.5 percent of their games have finished under the total.

Toledo has a superb 7-1 SU record, but they have a hard time covering the spread (3-4 ATS). Games featuring the Rockets also tend to finish under the total (57.1 percent).

The Rockets won the only game against the Titans last season, 89-86. The Rockets had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (35.9 vs. 18.9) and had a better free throw rate (0.215 vs. 0.176).
