It will be a battle between MAAC opponents when the Fairfield Stags (5-13, 2-4 MAAC) welcome the Canisius Golden Griffins (6-11, 3-2 MAAC) to Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard. The game will air on ESPN 3 at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

Canisius Golden Griffins at Fairfield Stags Betting Prediction

In the Golden Griffins’ last contest, they topped the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 65-63. Canisius’ 12.3 turnover percentage was their biggest strength over Quinnipiac, who had a mark of 19.2. The Golden Griffins’ mark was better than their season average of 17.2. Isaiah Reese played a pivotal role for Canisius with 11 points and nine assists.

The Stags fell to the Monmouth Hawks in their last contest, 74-57. One of Monmouth’s largest advantages was their ability to convert at the free throw line. They were 19-23 (82.6 percent), while the Stags were just 9-22 (40.9 percent). With 12 points on 5-for-6 shooting, Jonathan Kasibabu was Fairfield’s leading scorer.

After the Golden Griffins won the sole game against the Stags last season, 81-63, these teams will go head-to-head for the first time this year. The Golden Griffins had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (37.8 vs. 23.7) and had a better effective field goal percentage (0.554 vs. 0.475).

This has potential to be a mistake-prone game for the offense of Fairfield. Fairfield ranks 205th in the NCAA in ball protection (turnover percentage of 19.3 percent), while the gambling defense of Canisius forces the 72nd-most turnovers in the country (21.7 percent).
