Leicester City continued its Premier League climb with a 2-1 win over Watford over the weekend and as impressive as their first season in England’s top flight has been, the biggest story of the week is Chelsea’s continued plight following a 1-0 loss to Stoke City. Jack Butland was excellent for Stoke in that clean sheet win but it wasn’t enough to edge out another goalkeeper for top fantasy honors for his position. Here is a look at the top individual fantasy performances based on position for this past weekend in the Premier League.
GK: Rob Elliot, Newcastle
Elliott made fans forget about any injury concerns they had about him heading into this weekend with the best statistical performance of any Premier League goalkeeper. He helped his team to a 1-0 win over Bournemouth. Elliott made five saves to help Newcastle secure the clean sheet victory and edge out Butland and Southampton’s Maarten Stekelnburg for the best fantasy performance from this past weekend at his position. D: Scott Dann, Crystal Palace
Dann was all over the field for Crystal Palace with a strong performance in his own end of the pitch and the game-winning goal at the offensive end in Crystal Palace’s 2-1 win over Liverpool. They have now moved up to eighth place in the standings as a result, which is two points ahead of Liverpool.
There were plenty of chances for both teams in that game but ultimately it was Dann who delivered the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute to give Crystal Palace the victory. Honorable Mention: Maya Yoshida, Southampton; Andre Wisdom, Norwich City
M: Jesse Lingard, Manchester United
Lingard and Juan Mata made the difference in United’s 2-0 win over West Bromwich as the two goal scorers. However, it was Lingard who scored the game-winning goal with three shots in the game to edge out his teammate for top honors. United’s forwards have struggled up front for them all season as they still have just 17 goals in 12 games this season. That’s quite light when you consider that they are in fourth place; only one other team in the top nine has scored less than them. The good news for fantasy players is that United’s midfielders delivered in a big way over the weekend and helped them get them win.

M: Jonathan Howson, Norwich City
Howson’s first marker of the season came at the perfect time for Norwich City as it stood as the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Swansea City. Norwich hasn’t had many bright moments this season but getting the full three points was huge for them in this spot. They have moved up to 15th place with 12 points, which gives them a little bit of a buffer from the relegation zone. Liverpool’s Phillippe Coutinho and Leicester’s N’Golo Kante earned honorable mention at the position but Howson edged both of them out in terms of fantasy points over the weekend. F: Jamie Vardy, Leicester
Vardy’s dominant campaign continued with the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Watford. He continues to lead all Premier League forwards thanks to another strong fantasy performance. Vardy has averaged a goal per game in 12 contests so far this season and at this point he should be a lock in all daily fantasy league competitions.
F: Harry Kane, Tottenham
It certainly hasn’t been the best start to the campaign for the Tottenham striker but he found the back of the net with his sixth goal of the season over the weekend. It helped his club earn a 1-1 draw with Arsenal. Kane has fired 11 shots towards the target over his last two games and as long as he continues to shoot the ball, good things will happen. Honorable Mention: Ayoze, Perez, Newcastle United; Jonathan Walters, Stoke City
