The UFC 193 pay-per-view card goes down this Saturday in Australia, and it is the first UFC card in history where the two titles fights that headline the card are from the women’s divisions. Bantamweight titleholder Ronda Rousey (12-0) returns to face the challenge of former Boxing World Champion Holly Holm (9-0) in the main event, while the co-feature sees strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10-0) defend her belt against Valerie LeTourneau (8-3).

Looking at the odds at the sport books, Rousey and Joanna are huge favorites coming into the fights, as both have been dominant champions that have basically walked through their opposition. That run of dominance has left Ronda Rousey as the UFC’s biggest star and turned her into a household name. Jedrzejczyk is not quite on the radar like Rousey, but her fighting style have made her very popular and many feel she is on her way to stardom.
Holm is a world class athlete who was a long time boxing world champion and left that sport with a strong record (33-2-3) to pursue MMA full-time. Many feel she is being rushed into this fight with Rousey, and that her MMA game has not shown enough to warrant a title fight. Though that may be true, the UFC is basically out of opponents for Rousey, and Holm’s pedigree makes her moderately interesting. If Holm were to break through and defeat Rousey, she would be the first ever crss-over world champion in UFC and MMA, a feat that is likely to never be repeated. But that is a massive “if”.
LeTourneau too is likely being rushed, but she has gone (3-0) since entering the UFC, and she has shown she can handle a long hard fight, going the distance in all three of her fights on the big show.
A Heavyweight re-match also spices up the main card as Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva faces off against Mark Hunt for the second time. The first fight was a hard fought, brutal affair that ended in a draw. Also at heavyweight Stefan Struve takes on Jared Rosholt as he attempts to win a second fight in a row and put some of his recent bumps in the road behind him. Rosholt is 5-1 in the UFC and a win here would see him get a step up fight next.
