Red Sox manager Alex Cora, after a bit of going back and forth, ultimately decided that he’ll skip his team’s trip to the White House to celebrate their World Series championship with President Donald Trump. Elsewhere in Major League Baseball, it’s more bad news for the Yankees on the injury front, as ace pitcher Luis Severino won’t be back as soon as originally thought. The division rival Red Sox also lost a pitcher in David Price. Meanwhile, the Cubs moved into first place with a weekend sweep of the Cardinals.
Cora is upset about some of Trump’s decisions and policies after a devastating hurricane hit Cora’s native Puerto Rico last year.
“I’ve used my voice on many occasions so that Puerto Ricans are not forgotten and my absence (from the White House) is no different,” Cora said. https://t.co/4yyhCgGuQu

The rival Red Sox also got some bad injury news: David Price is hitting the injured list.

Here’s something you don’t see every day: The Reds hit back-to-back-to-back home runs — on three consecutive pitches — against the Giants in the first inning Sunday. (Then they lost anyway).
