There’s still no official word on the extent of Kevin Durant’s injury, which he suffered in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night, but no one around the situation seems to expect it to be good news. Durant flew to New York after the game to have an MRI. Meanwhile, among many other what-ifs, the Raptors now have a last-two-minute report that says Marc Gasol should have gone to the foul line when he lost the ball with less than a minute to play. Think that might have been important in a one-point game? Elsewhere, the Grizzlies have a new (interim) coach, the Thunder’s Paul George had another surgery and agents and players alike are gearing up for a crazy summer of free agency.
It can’t be a good sign that Durant’s MRI results haven’t been released yet.

Of course, Gasol getting two free throws means the rest of the game would have changed, which means it might not change the results. But … I’m sure the Raptors would have taken the free throws.
NBA rules that Raptors’ Marc Gasol should have been given two free throws late in Game 5. The Warriors won the game by one point. https://t.co/bIUKe8d1Md pic.twitter.com/fidYRTjSW7

Turns out Paul George was playing the end of the season with a bum shoulder.
Paul George had successful surgery on his left shoulder to repair a tear in his labrum, per a Thunder spokesperson. Recovery timetable is the same it was when he had surgery on his right shoulder a few weeks ago — reassessed around the start of training camp.

The new cover story of Sports Illustrated is on super agent Rich Paul, who represents both LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Among other things, he says Davis will definitely opt for free agency in 2020.
A wake-up call from a disappointed father. A brotherhood with LeBron forged from a Warren Moon jersey. A growing roster of stars under the Klutch banner.
