Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen passed away late last night due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease, and the NFL is in mourning today. Bowlen was seen as one of the league’s best owners, and Denver’s most legendary player paid tribute to his legacy today. John Elway has always been effusive in his praise of Bowlen, so this touching sentiment comes as no surprise. Bowlen is to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2019 due to his contributions to the game.
I will miss Pat greatly and will always treasure the times we had together.
He was a tremendous mentor and a tremendous friend. My heart goes out to Annabel and the entire Bowlen family. pic.twitter.com/hBwtIAOisQ

The Kansas City Chiefs have already spent a lot of money this offseason, so it raised more than a few eyebrows when they announced they were giving their kicker a big deal. According to reports, Butker has signed a five-year $20 million extension with the Chiefs, making him one of the priciest kickers in the league. The contract includes $9 million in guaranteed money, which is the third-most ever for a kicker.
Proud to announce that I’ve signed an extension with the @Chiefs ‼️Thanks to the organization for their belief in me and thanks to all of Chiefs Kingdom for the love! Excited to be a part of this team for the next six years. #ForTheBrand #ChiefsKingdom #LetsRoll pic.twitter.com/0VENXx5oZs

Now that Russell Wilson and Carson Wentz have signed big extensions with their teams, talk has turned to whether or not the Dallas Cowboys will lock up Dak Prescott for the long-term. It’s a hot-button issue as Prescott’s advanced numbers aren’t as strong as the other two quarterbacks, but one former Cowboy thinks that Jerry Jones should go ahead and pay the man his money. Paying Prescott $30 million plus a year seems awfully steep, but the new CBA could ease that burden.
Michael Irvin on @1053thefan on paying Dak Prescott over $30 million per year: “Every day (the Cowboys) wait, it’s costing money. This is an asset that’s trending in the right direction. You got to pay him this money. Dak’s agents aren’t gonna let you come in under Carson Wentz.”

A lot has been made about the state of Pittsburgh’s locker room this offseason, and it sounds like head coach Mike Tomlin is taking a wait and see approach. Tomlin’s statement isn’t wrong, but Steelers fans probably want a little more reassurance after the Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown debacles over the last 12 months. If the locker room is again a problem this season, it might cost Tomlin his job.
