Social media is popular, in part, because it allows the public access to the stars and vice-versa. Sometimes those are just friendly interactions, and other times it allows the stars the space to explain themselves. Pete Alonso used his Twitter account for the latter Friday after he had shooed away the grounds crew Thursday night so the Mets could finish a game they then blew in the rain. When a fan said he was mad at Alonso for not letting the game get delayed, he responded. Elsewhere, Jake Bauers gave Major League Baseball its second cycle in as many nights, the White Sox beat up on the Yankees again and the Rockies and Padres played deep into the night.
You’ve got to admit, it’s hard to argue with Alonso here.
Are you kidding me? Why are you mad at me for having confidence in my teammates? I’m a damn competitor and I’ll take my team over any one else any day. A real Mets fan doesn’t talk like that. Clean it up. #YaGottaBelieve #LGM

Trevor Bauer is more well-known, but when the Indians whipped up on the Tigers 13-4 on Friday night, it was Jake Bauers — don’t forget that S —who stole the show.
Two games against the mighty Yankees, two wins for White Sox, who rode a red-hot Lucas Giolito to this victory.

Remember Max Muncy’s line last week to Madison Bumgarner? He sure does.

When the Padres scored six runs in the ninth inning to tie the Rockies 11-11, we knew we had a Coors Field special on our hands (accordingly, it ended 16-12 San Diego).
IT’S 11:11 AND THE @ROCKIES & @PADRES ARE TIED 11-11 IN THE 11TH INNING
MAKE A WISH!!
