It’s summertime, so NFL fanatics don’t have much longer to wait until the start of the season. Everyone is excited, and the NFL is taking a prospective look at the records that could be broken this year. The most notable record that stands to fall is Peyton Manning’s record of 539 career passing touchdowns. Both Tom Brady and Drew Brees look set to break that record in 2019. Brees is sitting on 520 touchdowns and Brady is sitting on 517 touchdowns, so barring injury they will breeze over that mark (sorry, not sorry for the pun).
Another quarterback is set to break a dubious record too. If he is sacked 25 times this season, Ben Roethlisberger will become the most-sacked quarterback in NFL history.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier still has its sights set on returning to the NFL. Shazier was one of the league’s best inside linebackers when he suffered a severe back injury and spinal contusion late in 2017. It was thought that he would never regain full movement much less play football again immediately after the injury, but Shazier has made incredible progress. Shazier missed all of 2018 and will miss all of 2019 too after the Steelers placed him on injured reserve in April, yet he continues to train and hopes to make it back in the NFL.

For all the talk of Daniel Jones replacing Eli Manning, it looks like Manning will go into the season as the New York Giants’ starter. Manning has stated that there is no quarterback competition as he sees himself as the No. 1 option, but that he will do whatever it takes to help Jones grow into the role. Right now, both quarterbacks have said all the right things ahead of the season, but it’s rare these types of successions go according to plan. The New York media will be there for every minute of it when plans go awry.
