ESPN Highlights NFL-Themed Beers, Kendrick Norton in Serious Condition After Car Accident

It’s the Fourth of July, so that means it’s time to celebrate with peak Americana. Baseball, burgers, and dogs are the national pastime, and if you’re going to grill out, you have to kick back a couple of beers. The rise of the craft beer scene over the last decade has created some interesting NFL options, and ESPN takes a look at some of them here. The Orange Crushsicle and AK41 sound particularly good, and I’ll try anything brewed by Funky Buddha, the best brewery in the Sunshine State.

On a more somber note, Miami Dolphins’ defensive lineman Kendrick Norton was involved in a serious car accident last night, and our thoughts are with him and his family today. Norton is reportedly in critical condition, and multiple sources are reporting that his left arm had to be amputated, but he is expected to survive.

There’s more sad news as former New York Giants quarterback Jared Lorenzen passed away yesterday afternoon. Lorenzen had been hospitalized earlier in the week for heart and kidney problems, and he was reportedly dealing with an infection too. The quarterback claimed that he weighed close to 500 pounds two years ago, and he had been working with youth programs to teach diet and exercise.

Finally, while most NFL teams decided to play it safe by wishing everyone a safe and happy Fourth, the Panthers had a little fun with their social media on this holiday. Cam Newton, Greg Olsen, Christian McCaffrey, Donte Jackson, and Kyle Love are the Panthers being depicted at the cookout, and there are some light jabs here. Newton made the decision to go vegan earlier in the year, so he’ll be passing up the burgers and dogs for other options, while Olsen displays the unique personality we originally saw when he was at the University of Miami.
