The New York Mets are probably going to be sellers at the trade deadline, and that means Noah Syndergaard could be leaving the Big Apple. While the Mets aren’t actively looking to trade the star pitcher, per the MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, at least a handful of teams have made inquiries about the lovable long-haired pitcher that fans have affectionately dubbed Thor.
Noah Syndergaard could be dealt this month, albeit at a high cost. The #Brewers are among the teams monitoring him. My story on where things stand: https://t.co/Zb8OI5MjSQ @MLB @MLBNetwork

Syndergaard is still under club control for another two-and-a-half years, so the Mets aren’t keen on trading him unless another team is willing to overwhelm them with an offer. They are far more willing to trade Zack Wheeler, as his contract expires at the end of the season, and GM Brodie Van Wagenen reportedly has no plans to re-sign the pitcher once his contract is up.
Sources: #Padres have inquired to #Mets recently on the availability of Noah Syndergaard. San Diego, with a strong farm system, has been looking for veteran starter since the offseason. Updated story coming shortly to @MLB.com. @MLBNetwork

Two clubs that are rumored to have a lot of interest in Syndergaard are the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres.
Milwaukee is currently a half-game back of the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central, and the Brewers have been stung by inconsistent pitching this season. Their rotation has been middle-of-the-pack with Brandon Woodruff as the only solid option. Syndergaard would immediately be either the best or second-best arm in Milwaukee’s rotation, giving it a boost in its playoff bid.
As for the Padres, they are primed to make a huge splash. San Diego has the best farm system in the league, and the club has plenty of assets if they want to make a push for Syndergaard. They were rumored to be in pursuit of a starting pitcher last season, so they could be a factor here.
Syndergaard is in the middle of the worst year of his career, and that is going to lead to some haggling between prospective parties. He has a 1.28 WHIP and opposing batters are slugging .417 against him.
