Back in March, Georgia Tech defensive lineman Brandon Adams collapsed suddenly and died at the hospital a few hours later. Earlier this week, we learned that there is no foul play suspected in his death after recent toxicology reports were released.

Adams collapsed and began to convulse and foam at the mouth on the night of March 23 after taking a break from a step-dancing routine that he and his friends were practicing. He was taken to an area hospital by his friends after he collapsed, but he was pronounced dead later that night.
His sudden death led some to believe that there was an underlying factor, but the toxicology report showed that Adams had no alcohol, drugs, or poison in his system at the time of his death. That led to the Atlanta Police Department issuing the following statement:
“The toxicology examinations done for Brandon Adams did not indicate foul play or other factors that would warrant further criminal investigation by the Atlanta Police Department. As a result, the department is not pursuing the case further.”
During his career at Georgia Tech, Adams appeared in 24 games. The defensive lineman was entering his senior year, and he was expected to be a starter after being a major contributor in the rotation in 2018. He registered 24 total tackles and five tackles for loss for the Yellow Jackets last year.
After he passed away in March, head coach Geoff Collins issued the following statement:
“Our entire Georgia Tech football family is heartbroken by the news of Brandon’s passing. In the short time that I have had the privilege and honor of knowing Brandon, I admired and respected him, first and foremost as a terrific human being, but also as an outstanding teammate and leader.”
Here’s hoping that Adams’ family finds some solace in the findings.
