NFL News: A.J. Green Might be Out for a While, Derrick Henry Hurt and More

Though it looks like he just suffered a sprain, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green might not be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. The sprain is apparently bad enough that surgery to do some repair work to it is one the table.

Green is currently seeking a second opinion. If he does go under the knife, he’ll be out eight weeks, which would put him on blocks through most of the first month of the regular season.

The former first round pick out of Georgia is coming back from one of his worst, least productive and injury-shortened campaigns. He only played in nine games in 2018, catching 46 passes for 694 yards, but he did have six touchdowns.

Green is in the final year of his contract with the Bengals and is due to make $11.976 million this season.

Derrick Henry dealing with lower leg injury

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry is being held out of practice with a lower leg injury with no timetable for his return. He’s been seen at the Titans’ facility in a walking boot, but no crutches, so hopefully that’s a good sign for his Week 1 readiness.

Henry is coming off his best year as a pro. Handed the starting job for good last season, Henry carried the ball 215 times for 1,059 yards and 12 touchdowns. He added 15 catches for 99 yards. His rushing yards and TDs were both career highs.

Antonio Brown off Non-Football Injury list

The Oakland Raiders will finally get a look at newly-acquired wide receiver Antonio Brown in action. Brown has been cleared to practice after being taken off the Non-Football Injury list. He cleared his physical Sunday.

No details have been released on the injury Brown was working through, but whatever it was, it’s over now. Let’s just hope he didn’t hurt himself riding in on that hot air balloon.
