If Vinny Testaverde couldn’t bring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a championship, maybe his son can. Vincent Testaverde, fresh from his career with the University of Albany, has signed a free agent contract with the team that drafted his father No. 1 overall in the 1987 NFL Draft out of Miami.
Testaverde went undrafted after his senior season with the Great Danes. He started eight games, throwing for 1.714 yards and 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, completing 53.4 percent of his passes.

The younger Testaverde isn’t quite the physical specimen his father was coming out of “The U.” Vincent is 6-1 and 211 pounds. Dad Vinny was 6-5 and 235 pounds. The elder Testaverde played 21 seasons in the league for seven different teams. He wrapped up his career in 2007, starting six games for the Carolina Panthers.
His final starting record was 90-123-1 with a career completion percentage of 56.5, 46,233 passing yards, 275 touchdowns and 267 interceptions. Vinny made the Pro Bowl in 1996 with the Baltimore Ravens and 1998 with the New York Jets.
Vincent backed up Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech, then transferred to his father’s Alma mater in the Miami, before settling in at Albany to wrap up his college career.

If the Washington Redskins think they’re going to get seven-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Trent Williams into training camp, they aren’t listening to him. According to reports, Williams has no intention of ever playing for the team again, due to trust issues with the medical staff and team president Bruce Allen.

Williams was diagnosed with a benign tumor on his scalp that required surgery to remove. Reportedly, the All-Universe offensive lineman might have to go under the knife again and it could be a while before he’s cleared to play, regardless of who it’s for.
The left tackle has the obvious support of his teammates. Right tackle Morgan Moses did interviews Sunday wearing Williams’ jersey.
