There were real fears early on that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s season was over before it even started. Hill left the practice field on a cart early Tuesday with a leg injury that turned out to be a bruised quad.

Hill injured his leg in a collision with cornerback Bashaud Breeland. Breeland was breaking up a pass intended for Hill and the contact was accidental.
It’s one more lucky break for the controversial wide receiver. Less than two weeks ago Hill got the all clear from the NFL that there would be no punishment for an alleged incident with his three-year old son.

Training camp is the first chance Hill has had to work with the team in 2019. He was banned from the offseason program while the NFL was running its investigation.
Last season Hill caught 87 passes for 1,479 yards and 12 touchdowns, adding 22 rushes for 151 yards and TD on the ground. He averaged 10.7 yards per punt return and scored a touchdown.
Hill was a fifth round selection out of West Alabama in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Mitchell Schwartz hurt at Monday’s practice
It’s not been the best week for Kansas City Pro Bowlers. Monday, right tackle Mithcell Schwartz left the field early with back spasms. He’s listed as day-to-day.
Schwartz was originally a second round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2012 and has started every single game of his NFL career. He joined the Chiefs as a free agent in 2016. Holding him out is likely precautionary. It’d be real news if he ever missed an actual game.
#Chiefs RT Mitchell Schwartz, who left practice early yesterday, is considered day-to-day with back spasms, I’m told. Doesn’t appear to be a concern.

With Schwartz out, another former Brown will get the call. Cam Erving will slide over from right guard to tackle. He was a first round pick for Cleveland, No. 19 overall, in the 2015 NFL Draft. Kansas City brought Erving in on on a trade in 2017 for a fifth round pick.
