After securing a new deal with Klay Thompson this summer, the Golden State Warriors agreed to a four-year, $100 million maximum contract extension with All-Star forward Draymond Green, according to Green’s agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

Green was set to become a free agent next summer as he enters the final year of his current contract, but the Warriors didn’t even want to think about letting him go. That’s why they acted quickly to keep Green for four more years. Both the player and Warriors have long insisted that they planned a long-term future playing alongside star teammates Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Green has been one of the crucial players in Golden State’s run to five consecutive NBA Finals. Green found himself on the NBA’s All-Defensive first or second team for five seasons in a row and he was the Defensive Player of the Year in 2017.
The new deal will start with the 2020-21 campaign, and this extension will pay Green $22.2 million, $24 million, $25.8 million, and $27.6 million in four years. The Warriors have four All-Star players on their roster – Curry, Thompson, D’Angelo Russell, and Green.
