A new jersey being debuted should be a time of celebration. Fanbases usually jump at the chance to spend their money on a sleek new uniform design, but Michigan State missed the mark entirely with its new jerseys. Spartans and other college football fans have been piling on since Michigan State’s new uniforms were revealed on Twitter yesterday, and it’s pretty unanimous that these are some of the worst uniforms we’ve seen in a long time.
Are you ready? No, you’re not ready yet. These uniforms are abominable. Nike was clearly going for something flashy like what they have created for Oregon over the years, but these uniforms are an eyesore. Maybe they put an intern in charge of the design, or maybe they decided that they would save all their best shades of green for Phil Knight’s Ducks. Either way, whereas Oregon’s unique designs have always received some love no matter how bizarre or bright, Michigan State’s new look has received universal scorn.
Okay, I’ve prefaced it enough. Ready?

Tremble before the most hideous jersey in sports! It’s hard to say what is the single-worst thing about the uniform, as there is so much wrong here. The oversized State lettering across the top of the jersey gives the impression of something you would see a middle school student create in Madden, and pairing different shades of green together is an awful look. The oversized jersey numbers will make it easy on announcers calling games, but they draw even more attention to this travesty.
Unsurprisingly, the uniforms were widely panned.
Those neon Michigan State uniforms from the mockups are even worse than we feared https://t.co/Bc7Ba61pgD

Fortunately, these hideous uniforms won’t be the primary ones for Michigan State this season. The traditional white and green unis will be worn for much of the season, but we’ll see these monstrosities at least once during the regular season.
