It was a hero’s welcome for former Braves manager Bobby Cox in Atlanta, and his old team lived up to the franchise’s all-time great. Chace Numata’s name will be remembered for a much more tragic reason; the Detroit Tigers minor leaguer died after a skateboarding accident. Elsewhere, Dodgers reliever Julio Urias is ready to return from suspension, and minor leaguer Gavin Lux starred in his debut. And the Nationals might be without a key bat for a little while at a bad time.
Bobby Cox appeared at the ballpark for the first time since suffering a stroke. He got a well-deserved ovation.

A terrible story from the minor leagues as Chace Numata, a catcher in the Tigers organization, died after a horrible accident.

Elsewhere, Urias’ 20-game suspension for domestic violence is over. He’ll throw 45 pitches in his first start Tuesday. Where the Dodgers use him from there remains to be seen.

Meanwhile for the Dodgers on Monday, it was quite a debut for rookie Gavin Lux, who singled on the first big-league pitch he saw, doubled in his second at-bat and scored three times.

Adam Eaton has been red-hot for the Nationals, so if he needs to miss time, that’s a blow for a team in a playoff chase.
