As deals keep falling into place right before the 2019 season kicks off, the final numbers have emerged on Jared Goff’s extension with the Los Angeles Rams. And while the overall numbers don’t make him the highest paid quarterback in the league, the guaranteed cash is the most any NFL player has ever received.
Goff’s contract is a four-year extension, added to the remaining two years of his current contract. The overall value of all six years is $161 million, with $134 million in new money and the record $110 million guaranteed.
Eagles gave Carson Wentz $107.8 million in guaranteed money this off-season; that was the NFL record until the Rams gave Jared Goff $110 million guaranteed tonight.

All offseason long Goff, general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay seemed unconcerned about the contract situation. Now we know why. While other teams seem content to play these things out in the press, the Rams have learned in their dealings over the last two seasons with Aaron Donald, that it’s a problem that’s easily avoided through constant communication and a desire to get the deal done.
Back in the summer, when asked about his contract Goff said, “I’ll just continue to do what I’ve been doing these last few years and hopefully it will take care of itself.”
Compensation update: Rams are giving QB Jared Goff a four-year, $134 million extension that includes an NFL-record $110 million guaranteed, per source. It ties him to LA through 2024 season.

Well, it did.
Raiders fine Antonio Brown for missing practice
His helmet fiasco is behind him, but Oakland Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown will feel the effects in his wallet. The team has fined the star receiver $54,000 for time missed in training camp.
Brown, as you would expect, was not pleased. He also made a point of spilling his tea publicly. Again, as you would expect with him at this point.

Maybe everyone has to pay this year, but one thing is fore sure. Brown will be the first one ponying up the cash.
Falcons free up cap room for possible Julio Jones deal
Julio Jones has waited patiently all offseason for a new contract from the Atlanta Falcons. He might not be waiting much longer. Tuesday, the team restructured two contracts; safety Ricardo Allen and offensive tackle Jake Matthews.
As a way of creating cap room, the #Falcons converted base salary to signing bonus on the contracts for Jake Matthews and Ricardo Allen, source says, adding they’re now “just barely into positive space.” Preparing for… pic.twitter.com/8BYQLGfFSS
