If the Los Angeles Rams are worried about running back Todd Gurley’s knee, there’s no indication in the gameplan for Sunday’s match up with the Carolina Panthers.
While the Rams have kept Gurley up on blocks and under a tarp in the preseason, he will be completely unleashed against Carolina, Sunday with no plans to hold him back.
When asked if Gurley would be on a “pitch count,” head coach Sean Mcvay said, “Nope. ..I’m excited to see Todd Gurley continue to do his thing. He looks good. He’s feeling good and we’re looking forward to Sunday.”

Knee issues slowed down Gurley toward the end of last season and while Los Angeles is confident its star running back is fine, they did invest heavily in keeping his back up, Malcolm Brown, on the roster after the Detroit Lions signed him to an RFA contract. They also selected Memphis star runner Darrell Henderson in the third round of April’s NFL Draft.
The only people who really need to be concerned with Gurley are fantasy football players, as his garbage time production will likely evaporate.
Rams lock up tight end Tyler Higbee
Tight end Tyler Higbee has been one of the more unsung members of the Los Angeles Rams offense under head coach Sean McVay, but just because he’s not making headlines, doesn’t mean the team undervalues its starting receiver and blocker.
Thursday night, the Rams and Higbee agreed on a four-year, $31 million extension that will keep him in Los Angeles through the 2023 season.

Higbee is one of the few offensive contributors that former head coach Jeff Fisher picked right. He was a fourth round selection in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Western Kentucky. He started seven games as a rookie under Fisher and every game for McVay.
Last year, he caught 24 passes for 292 yards and two touchdowns in the regular season. He added six catches for 55 yards and TD in the postseason.
