If you thought, like I did, teams would take a pause before adding Antonio Brown to their roster, think again. While it was all but preordained that the troubled star would sign with the New England Patriots, no one thought it would happen this fast. Brown cleared the waiver wire at 4 p.m. By 5 p.m., he was on New England’s roster.
Brown will not be cleared to play this week, but can suit up for Week 2. But, man, that would have been interesting to see A.B. play against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night after the nightmare he’s been for the Oakland Raiders this preseason.

He signs with the Pats on a one-year, $15 million deal with a $9 million signing bonus. It’s safe to assume the $9 million is all that’s guaranteed.

Brown didn’t leave the building without taking one parting shot at the Raiders, posting on Twitter that “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.”

Josh Gordon and Brown will make for one of the best tandems in the league, if they can actually take the field together. This could be a potent offensive boost or a cancer, like he was in Oakland. Good luck, Patriots. You’ve had troubled guys before, but A.B. is an entirely different monster.
