Nationals Postseason News: Victor Robles Day-to-Day With Injury

The Washington Nationals got a huge win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in game two of the NLDS on Friday, but they may have suffered just as big of a loss as well. Victor Robles exited the game in the top of the eighth inning after he tweaked his hamstring on a bunt attempt. He is considered day-to-day.

The 22-year-old center fielder was 1-2 on the day with a run scored before leaving the game.

Although he is day-to-day, the Nationals are already familiar with how bad this type of injury can be. They lost reliever Roenis Elias to a tweaked hamstring in early September and he has been out since. We may have seen the last of Robles in 2019 if his injury is anywhere near as bad as Elias’.

The young outfielder hasn’t been dominant at the plate in his first full season, but he’s proven himself to be a reliable bat with a .255 batting average and 17 home runs. He will be mostly missed for his baserunning and defensive ability. Robles had 28 stolen bases this season and was the leading outfielder in the majors in defensive runs saved with 24.

If Robles does miss time, expect Washington to call on Michael Taylor to step in for him.
