Have yourself a day, Jonathan Taylor.
The Wisconsin running back went off in the Badgers’ 48-0 shutout of Kent State on Saturday. Taylor had five total touchdowns, four in the first half, for 186 yards on 19 carries.

In addition to passing Melvin Gordon on Wisconsin’s all-time rushing list and Corey Clement for 9th on the school’s all-time touchdowns list, Taylor also made history in a few other categories. He became the first Big Ten player since Saquon Barkley to have five scrimmage touchdowns in a game. His 16 scrimmage touchdowns through the first five games are the most by any FBS player since Ricky Williams had 20 for Texas in 1998, he won the Heisman trophy that year. Taylor is now also the only FBS player to rush for 10 touchdowns in three consecutive seasons, the last Big Ten player to accomplish that feat was fellow Badger Montee Ball from 2010-2012.
Jonathan Taylor has put himself not only in the Heisman conversation, but he should be a top pick in next year’s NFL Draft if he chooses to declare.
