Sometimes, the things we do in our past resurface to haunt us a little bit. Therefore, Baker Mayfield saw a ghost from his past return on Monday Night Football.
While the San Francisco 49ers were busy delivering a dominating 31-3 win to the Cleveland Browns, former Ohio State Buckeye Nick Bosa had a little fun.
First, allow us to rewind a bit. Remember all the way back in September of 2017 when Mayfield was at Oklahoma. Playing in Columbus, he decided it was a good idea to do this before the game:
Of course, Mayfield had the last laugh on that evening. The Sooners won that game 31-16, and Mayfield went on to win the Heisman Trophy.
Then came Monday Night, and it was Bosa’s turn to return the notion. Early in the contest, check out what he did:

That was just the beginning of a bad night for Mayfield. He finished the evening 8 for 22 through the air, good for 100 yards on the nose. Additionally he threw two interceptions and fumbled twice. All of this resulted in three points for the Cleveland Browns. Some guy named Garrett Gilbert finished up the game for him, who I assume is his back-up quarterback.
While all guys have a bad night – the league and fans alike relish when Mayfield does. Perhaps it is because he has so brazenly commented in his short time in the NFL, and planted flags at midfield during his collegiate days. Remember, he was talking down New York Giants’ rookie Daniel Jones in GQ a short time ago.
Now Mayfield finds himself in the crosshairs of pundits and opponents alike. Finally, is it possible that what Rex Ryan said about Mayfield was right? Thus far, Mayfield has been one of the league’s worst quarterbacks from a statistical standpoint.
