South Carolina News: Bryan Edwards Makes Insane Catch for School Record

Bryan Edwards made history in the second quarter of South Carolina’s matchup against Tennessee on Saturday, and he did so in style. Freshman quarterback Ryan Hilinski threw one up for Edwards and the senior did his best Odell Beckham Jr. impression to get the Gamecocks to the one yard-line.

The feat did not go unnoticed as Edwards earned the top play in multiple highlight reels, including SportsCenter’s top-10 on Saturday.

In addition to making an amazing play, Edwards also made history with that catch. It was the 207th catch of his career, tying him with Kenny McKinley for No. 1 on the school’s all-time receptions list. Edwards would grab catch No. 208 in the third quarter of Saturday’s game, earning him sole possession of the record. Edwards also passed McKinley on Oct. 12 by catching a pass in his 44th consecutive game.

As great as Edwards has been, he might not be done breaking records. Edwards is currently at 2,816 receiving yards in his career, 226 yards away from breaking Alshon Jeffery’s record. He is also three touchdowns shy of passing Sidney Rice as South Carolina’s career receiving touchdowns leader.
