Hawks receive Dejounte Murray in exchange for Danilo Gallinari from Spurs

In order to accelerate their reconstruction, the Spurs traded Dejounte Murray, an All-Star guard, to the Hawks on Wednesday for forward Danilo Gallinari, a first-round selection, and three other players. Dejounte Murray goes to the Hawks, Danilo Gallinari to the Spurs, along with 2023, 2025, and 2027 first-round choices. Additionally, they receive a selection exchange in 2026 and the protection of their 2023 first-round pick.

In a deal that apparently also involves a 2026 selection exchange, Atlanta is reportedly sending a 2023 first-round pick from the Hornets to San Antonio along with first-round picks in 2025 and 2027. With the addition of a dynamic young point guard coming off his greatest season as a pro, Atlanta was able to improve a backcourt that was already led by All-NBA guard Trae Young, who finished sixth in the league in scoring (28.4 points per game).
