Carmelo Crandell of the Crusaders commits to an NCAA school

Carmelo Crandell, a forward with the Sherwood Park Crusaders, has declared his commitment to Colgate. Next year, Crandell will compete for the Division 1 school in New York. “I want to thank my family, friends, coaches, and trainers for their support during my journey. I’m excited to be a part of such an amazing program,” said Crandell.

The 17-year-old is a Cru member for his second season. “Carmelo is a committed student-athlete who has grown to be a game-changer for our squad,” Evan McFeeters, the head coach of the Crusaders, said. “We look forward to Carmelo continuing as a leader for us and eventually for the Raiders.”

Crandell scored 21 points in his first season (9 goals, 12 assists). Crandell competed in minor hockey with the Sabers (U15 AAA), Flyers (U16 AAA), and Raiders in St. Albert (U18 AAA). He will keep playing for Sherwood Park Crusaders.
