The Oklahoma State basketball team added a transfer, but the Cowboys won’t use him this year. According to a report from Marshall Scott of Pistols Firing, former Louisiana Monroe forward Russell Harrison was refused a waiver by the NCAA because they decided he had used up all of his eligibility. Harrison, who committed to Oklahoma State in May before beginning his studies this summer, appealed the decision but was once more turned down, according to the story. Thus, he won’t be able to participate in this season’s games.
In 2016–17, Harrison enrolled at Wayland Baptist, an NAIA institution in Plainview, Texas, to start his collegiate career. Prior to going to Clarendon College in Texas for the 2019–20 season, he missed the next two seasons due to personal issues. Prior to moving to Oklahoma State, Harrison played the previous two seasons at Louisiana-Monroe. A student-athlete has five calendar years to compete in four seasons of competition in accordance with the NCAA transfer rules.
