Amazon May Be a Part of the Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac-12

With Thursday Night Football’s first broadcast last week, Amazon Prime Video made its foray into the world of football. The streaming service is allegedly planning to expand to the college ranks, which may have significant repercussions. Amazon “has emerged as a prominent stakeholder in college football media rights discussions and hence may become a role in additional conference restructuring,” claims Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports.

Dodd said that given the impending significant changes to the Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac-12 leagues, Amazon “has been connected” to these conferences. In July, USC and UCLA declared their intention to switch from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten in 2024. Texas and Oklahoma, who will join the SEC in 2025, are leaving the Big 12, and the conference is preparing for their departure. The Big 12 will expand the league the following year to include Cincinnati, BYU, Houston, and UCF. A new television rights agreement between the Big Ten and CBS, Fox, and NBC was struck last month. Amazon could soon follow suit.
