“NCAA athletics is a predatory economic cartel that forbids collegiate players from having unrestricted access to the market to use their skills and abilities to make money. a freedom enjoyed by other Americans,” said Ramogi Huma, executive director of the National College Players Association, on Friday.
For more than ten years, Huma, a former UCLA football player, and the NCPA have been spearheading the fight to give college football and basketball players a cut of the millions of dollars in income those sports bring in. An unsuccessful attempt to unionize Northwestern’s football players included the NCPA. Huma has frequently testified before Congress.
