NBA Daily Fantasy Cheatsheet: Start Blazers in Matchup with Pelicans

Here is some important NBA basketball daily fantasy advice to consider for Wednesday’s NBA fantasy action. After a relatively quiet Tuesday night that featured only four games, the NBA schedule ramps up big time on Wednesday with 13 games on the slate. That means there will be 26 NBA rosters to choose from when you build your roster in Daily Fantasy Leagues and while there are more potential combination to optimize player values there is also more room to miss if you pick the wrong players.

Weak Defense To Target: New Orleans Pelicans

With a terrible start to the season, New Orleans has a lot of work ahead in order to climb out of the hole they dug for themselves in the Western Conference. While they have shown flashes of strong play of late, they have still been far too inconsistent, including at the defensive end of the floor where they have been the worst team in the NBA from a statistical point of view. The Pelicans have allowed an NBA-high 108.2 points per game so far this season and they are worth targeting with the Portland Trail Blazers in town on Wednesday. Portland isn’t exactly an NBA title contender, but the fact that they have struggled this year means they have some strong value plays that are worth consideration. A number of their players (other than Damian Lillard) are undervalued in daily fantasy leagues. Take a look at Allen Crabbe and Mason Plumlee, who have been fairly consistent of late for the Trail Blazers.

Player Who’s Hot Right Now: Andre Drummond, Detroit Pistons

James Harden, LeBron James and Steph Curry have each continued to dominate from a fantasy perspective of late, but one player that has flown under the radar somewhat of late is Detroit’s star center Drummond, who has been absolutely on fire. Drummond has averaged 24.5 points, 16.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 2.0 assists and 1.0 block per game over the past week of action and, considering he is available at a lower price than Harden, LeBron and Curry, he might very well be the superstar player you want to build your Daily Fantasy Leagues lineup around on Wednesday.

Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… Jeremy Lin, Jameer Nelson

The Charlotte Hornets have decided to pair Jeremy Lin with Kemba Walker in their backcourt and they have to be happy with the results as both players have played better since they have been paired together. Walker is the more expensive of the two in Daily Fantasy Leagues, but Lin’s strong play since the move makes him worth targeting as a value bargain play. Lin has averaged 17.8 points, 5.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 three-point shots per game over the last week of action so don’t be afraid to take a shot on him in Wednesday’s NBA contests.

Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been forced to turn to Jameer Nelson as their starting point guard as rookie first-round pick Emmanuel Mudiay continues to deal with an injured ankle. Nelson has taken advantage of the opportunity by averaging 13.3 points, 5.3 assists, 3.3 rebounds, 2.0 three-point shots and 1.0 steal per game over the last week of action. The added responsibility and opportunity makes him a strong value play for Wednesday when the Nuggets visit the Phoenix Suns.

Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: SAC @ IND

Despite their struggles at their own end of the floor, the Sacramento Kings have put up some decent scoring numbers this season with only the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder registering a higher points-per-game so far this season. Sacramento has struggled defensively though and the Indiana Pacers aren’t much further down the list in terms of points per game this season as they rank seventh, so this should be a higher scoring game. Paul George has been outstanding for the Pacers so far this season, but Rodney Stuckey and Jordan Hill are decent fantasy options as well. Meanwhile, DeMarcus Cousins has played at an elite fantasy level for the Kings, but don’t be shy to take a chance on Omri Casspi as a value bargain play in what should be the highest scoring game of the night.
