Damian Jones Dunk Against Arkansas Forces OT

The previously ranked Vanderbilt Commodores are sliding after losing six of their past eight games, but a Damian Jones dunk against Arkansas on Tuesday night at least gave them a shot to notch a needed rode win in overtime.

They didn’t, falling 90-85, giving up 90 points for the second straight game. But still, just watch this.

First, it’s insane that the in-bounder was able to throw a strike like that down the entire length of the court. Second, he got it right over the fingertips of the Razorbacks’ defender–seriously, the Cleveland Browns should look at this kid to fix their quarterbacking woes.

Some will say that Jones would have been better served to shoot a lay up, getting the ball out of his hands quicker when being rushed by the game clock. But that just wouldn’t be nearly as awesome as this was, now would it?

Regardless, the Commodores are now just 8-6 on the season and sit at 0-2 in SEC play, which is exactly where they don’t want to be. Their upcoming schedule does give them home games against Auburn and Alabama, after a trip to South Carolina and before one to Tennessee, providing the ‘Dores a chance to get back on track.

One positive sign, aside from Jones’ aggressiveness, is the recent emergence of Riley LaChance to being the scoring threat that we all saw a year ago. He’s scored in double figures each of the past three games after doing so just four times in the previous 11 games.
