San Diego Toreros – Loyola Marymount Lions Preview – 01.23.2016

It will be a battle between West Coast opponents when the Loyola Marymount Lions (9-10) welcome the San Diego Toreros (6-12) to Albert Gersten Pavilion. Action begins at 6:00 pm ET on Saturday, Jan. 23.

The Lions are hoping for a better outcome after their 91-80 loss to BYU on Thursday. Adom Jacko had a good game in defeat for Loyola Marymount, recording 26 points and 12 rebounds to earn his fifth double-double of the season. The Toreros, meanwhile, are feeling some disappointment after their demoralizing 76-58 loss at the hands of Pepperdine on Thursday. Brett Bailey posted nine points, five rebounds, and two assists.

Loyola Marymount is a seven-point favorite in this game and the Over/Under (O/U) is set at 133 points. The Lions are trying to improve upon their records of 9-10 Straight Up (SU) and 10-8 Against The Spread (ATS). Loyola Marymount is one of the most disciplined teams in the nation with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.30.

On the other side, San Diego has a SU record of 6-12 and an ATS record of 7-10.

This game marks the first time these teams will play this season. The last time these conference foes played, Loyola Marymount won, but the win was not enough to overtake San Diego in their recent head-to-head series. Its record is now 4-6 SU over the last few meetings. Additionally, San Diego holds the advantage ATS with a record of 7-3. When it comes to field goals, rebounds, or three-pointers, neither team was able to hold the advantage in all three of these categories over their past five meetings against one another.
