Florida Atlantic Owls – Texas San Antonio Roadrunners Preview – 01.23.2016

The Florida Atlantic Owls (4-15) try to bring a 10-game road losing streak to a halt when they take on the Texas San Antonio Roadrunners (4-15) at UTSA Convocation Center. Action begins at 3:00 pm ET on Saturday, Jan. 23.

The Roadrunners are hoping to rebound after their 72-56 loss to FIU on Thursday. Ryan Bowie had a good outing, recording 11 points, four rebounds, and two assists for Texas San Antonio. The Owls, meanwhile, are feeling some disappointment after their 71-56 loss against UTEP on Thursday. Jeantal Cylla led the game in scoring with 25 points.

It will be a showdown of conflicting tempos, as the fast-paced Roadrunners (ranked 31st in the nation in possessions per game) will look to push the slow-paced Owls (280th in possessions per game).

Florida Atlantic is a slim one-point favorite over Texas San Antonio. The Over/Under (O/U) is sitting at 141 points for this matchup. The Roadrunners come into this game 4-15 Straight Up (SU) and 5-8 Against The Spread (ATS).

As for their opponent, the Owls have records of 6-9-2 ATS and 4-15 SU. The Owls allow very few three-pointers on defense with 5.0 given up per game. One advantage for the Owls could be Texas San Antonio’s high fouls per game average of 22.3.

This game marks the season’s first head-to-head clash between the conference foes. Their previous game was a Roadrunners victory, bumping their SU record to 2-0 over Florida Atlantic. With a 2-0 record, the Roadrunners also have the advantage ATS.

Predictions: SU Winner – FlaAtl, ATS Winner – FlaAtl, O/U – Over
