Stetson Hatters – North Florida Ospreys Preview – 02.01.2016

The Stetson Hatters (8-15) will try to slow down the Atlantic Sun’s top scoring team when they take on the North Florida Ospreys (18-6) at UNF Arena. The game starts at 7:00 pm ET on Monday, Feb. 1 and will air on ES3.

The Ospreys beat FGCU 82-76 on Saturday. Beau Beech was the game’s high scorer with 27 points on 8-for-14 shooting. The Hatters are coming off a 75-60 loss to Jacksonville on Saturday. Divine Myles had a good shooting night, leading the game with 17 points.

Over the last five games, Beech has been playing at a high level for the Ospreys. During that stretch, he has averaged 22.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 4.6 three-pointers.

The high-powered offense of North Florida (sixth in the nation with an offensive efficiency of 119.7) will square off against the porous defense of Stetson (323rd in the nation with a defensive efficiency of 110.8), a matchup that should favor the Ospreys.

This will be the second matchup of the season between these two teams. The Ospreys won the first game 97-79. Dallas Moore was a top performer in the victory with 30 points, two rebounds, eight assists, and one steal.

Ranked sixth, the North Florida Ospreys have an offensive rating of 119.7. The Stetson Hatters rank 323rd with a defensive rating of just 110.8.

The North Florida Ospreys have one of the best field goal percentages this season, ranking 15th in the nation with a FG% of 48.8%. When their opponents record a similar or higher FG%, the Stetson Hatters have a subpar 3-10 record.
