Green Bay Phoenix – Detroit Titans Preview – 02.11.2016

The Green Bay Phoenix (14-10) travel to Detroit to play the Titans (12-11) in what should be a fast-paced game. The game gets underway at 7:00 pm ET on Thursday, Feb. 11 and can be seen on ES3.

The Titans come into this game on a high note after barely hanging on to beat Youngstown State 94-92 in their last matchup. Anton Wilson played a pivotal role with 18 points, four assists, and three steals. The Phoenix, meanwhile, are coming off an ugly 79-60 loss at the hands of Wright State in their last game. Carrington Love had a game-high 17 points.

Jordan Fouse has upped his play for the Phoenix, averaging 15.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.6 steals, 2.4 blocks, and 0.8 three-pointers over the past five games.

There should be plenty of transition action in this game. Detroit ranks seventh in the nation in possessions per game (75.9 possessions per game), while Green Bay is third (78.8). Also, the offense of the Phoenix seems ready to earn plenty of trips to the line. They rank 19th in the nation in FTA rate (45.0), while the Titans are among the nation’s most foul-happy teams (allowing a 330th-ranked mark of 45.4).

This will be the second matchup of the season between these two teams. The Phoenix won the first game 115-108. Fouse put up 30 points and 14 rebounds.

The Titans come into this game 12-11 Straight Up (SU) and 11-10 Against The Spread (ATS). The Titans have no trouble scoring as they rank ninth in the nation in offense with 84.3 points per game. Detroit is excellent from the perimeter, shooting an impressive .393 from three-point range.

On the other side, the Phoenix have records of 13-9 ATS and 14-10 SU. The Phoenix rank third in the country in scoring, averaging 85.4 points per game. Green Bay is one of the top foul-shooting teams in the nation, connecting on 19.0 shots from the line per game. Moving on to the Green Bay defense, teams with weak ball handling have not fared well against the Phoenix, who rank third in the nation with 9.9 steals per game.

The Phoenix’s win over Detroit in their last clash moved their SU record in the most recent matchups against Detroit to 7-3. The Phoenix also lead the matchup ATS with a record of 7-2-1. Green Bay held the edge in field goals, rebounds, and three-pointers one time, while Detroit was never able to do so in their most recent five games.

Predictions: SU Winner – GB, ATS Winner – GB
