A night of thrilling Big 12 results left no one untouched in its wake, as Kansas went on the road to beat Oklahoma and Texas Tech reminded folks why they’re now in the conversation surrounding the NCAA Tournament bubble.
In a sequel to the 3-OT thriller in Lawrence earlier this season, Devonte’ Graham dropped 27 points to give the Jayhawks a season sweep of Oklahoma, as KU went into Norman and won 76-72. The Sooners were, as usual, paced by Buddy Hield’s 24 points, but Graham made life very difficult throughout the night for OU’s National Player of the Year frontrunner.
This was supposed to be the year that KU got knocked off their throne atop the Big 12, but games like this consistently prove why Kansas has the inside track to win their 12th-straight conference title. Down in Waco, the Red Riders used a huge second half to beat Baylor 84-66. Texas Tech is now projected to finish with a top 50 RPI and currently sit at No. 32 after the win. Tubby Smith’s group now boasts seven wins against the top 100 and five against the top 50, with an away win the one thing they were missing from their profile until Saturday night.
They’ll have more chances to build a resume before Selection Sunday, as they still have match-ups with Oklahoma (home), Kansas (away), and West Virginia (home) before the conference tournament in Kansas City. Plus, the final game against Kansas State which could be a chance for one more top 100 win in Lubbock.
