NJIT Highlanders – Jacksonville Dolphins Preview – 02.20.2016

The Jacksonville Dolphins (16-13) look to extend their 10-game home winning streak in a matchup against the NJIT Highlanders (16-12). The game gets underway at 7:00 pm ET on Saturday, Feb. 20 and will air on ES3.

The Dolphins were victorious over USC Upstate 81-76 on Thursday. Marcel White had 22 points, seven rebounds, and two steals for Jacksonville. The Highlanders are coming off an awful 107-71 loss to North Florida on Thursday. Ky Howard played well for NJIT, recording 13 points, six assists, and five rebounds.

Over the last five games, J.R. Holder and Kori Babineaux have played well for the Dolphins. During that stretch, Holder has averaged 17.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 1.2 three-pointers. Not to be outdone, Babineaux has put up 23.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.0 steal, and 0.6 blocks. On the other side, the Highlanders have their own duo that have been hot in that span. Howard has averaged 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.6 steals, while Damon Lynn has put up 20.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.0 steals, and 3.2 three-pointers.

This will be the second matchup of the season between these two teams. The Highlanders won the first game 83-63. Damon Lynn was a standout player in the game, producing 20 points, two rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and five three-pointers.

In its last game, NJIT lost by a margin of 36 points. Jacksonville is 4-4 in games decided by a margin of 18 points or more. NJIT has a 3-4 record in blowouts.
