Pacific Tigers – Santa Clara Broncos Preview – 02.27.2016

The Pacific Tigers will be at Leavey Center to take on the Santa Clara Broncos in a West Coast matchup. The game gets underway at 9:00 pm ET on Saturday, Feb. 27.

The Broncos got blown out by Saint Mary’s 75-50 on Thursday. Kai Healy put together a strong game for the Broncos, contributing 13 points and three rebounds. The Tigers are coming off a 79-70 win over San Francisco on Thursday. Eric Thompson shot 7 for 8 and led in scoring with 16 points.

This will be the second matchup of the season between these two teams. The Tigers won the first game 73-72. Despite the loss, Jared Brownridge was a top performer in the game with 36 points, four rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block, and eight three-pointers.

The Broncos look to improve upon their records of 10-19 Straight Up (SU) and 13-15-1 Against The Spread (ATS). Expect Santa Clara to have lots of opportunities at the line against the Tigers, who are one of the most foul-prone teams in the nation with an average of 22.9 fouls per game.

On the other side, the Tigers head into the game with records of 13-12 ATS and 8-19 SU. The last 10 games have really brought the worst out of the Tigers on the defensive end. They allowed 80.9 points per game during that span, which is higher than their season average of 71.8.

Pacific won the last meeting this season between these two teams, but Santa Clara still leads the head-to-head record, 6-4 SU, over their most recent matchups. Additionally, Santa Clara leads the matchup ATS with a record of 6-4. When it comes to field goals, rebounds, and three-pointers, Santa Clara held the edge in all three of these categories twice in the last five meetings. Pacific never did so in those games.
