The month of March begins with six games on the schedule for Tuesday night and a full slate of games for NBA fantasy purposes available to make some cash in. The key remains finding the perfect balance between star scorers and strong sleeper value plays so it makes sense to do the necessary research and find the perfect combination. Here is some important advice to consider for Tuesday’s NBA fantasy action.
Weak Defense To Target: Brooklyn Nets
The Los Angeles Lakers have the second-fewest wins in the NBA at 11-49, but they are set to play a Brooklyn Nets’ team that owns the worst road record in the entire association at 3-28 and that means opportunity to put up some decent numbers. The Nets have allowed an average of 103.6 points per game over the last week of action and there are a couple of strong value options from the Lakers that could capitalize on the opportunity in Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams. Clarkson has averaged 17.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.3 three-point shots, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal per game over the last seven days. Meanwhile, Williams has averaged 16.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 three-point shots and 1.3 steals per game over that same span. Both players are available at a very reasonable price and it makes sense to use them to target the Brooklyn defense.
Player Who’s Hot Right Now: Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers
Damian Lillard has been an absolute beast for the Trail Blazers this season and that will continue when they visit the New York Knicks. Lillard has averaged 30.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.5 three-point shots per game over the past seven days. February has been his best month by far as he’s averaging 29.8 points per game – 6.4 better than he did in January – with 6.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 threes, 1.4 steals while shooting 44.7% from the field. The best part might be that he’s facing the Knicks on Tuesday, who have been very weak from a defensive perspective of late. They’re allowing 104.8 points per game over their last eight contests. Look for Lillard to at least match his averages from the past week, making him the ideal superstar option to build around for Tuesday night’s NBA fantasy leagues.
Injuries, Rest Create Opportunities For… Luol Deng, Mirza Teletovic
Injuries have forced the Miami Heat to lean even more on some of their veteran players and that includes Luol Deng, who has averaged 34.3 minutes per game over the last seven days. Deng has averaged 13.8 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game over that span. While he’s not someone who has been a great NBA fantasy asset this season, the minutes average pushes us to play him in this spot. He is available at a very reasonable price heading in to Tuesday’s matchup with the Chicago Bulls. He should be motivated versus his former team.
Meanwhile, Mirza Teletovic is another player whose production has really picked up as a result of his increased playing time since the Phoenix Suns traded Markieff Morris at the NBA trade deadline and he is another strong value option. Teletovic has averaged 20.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.6 three-point shots and 1.4 steals per game since the deadline so consider having him in your lineup for Tuesday’s matchup with the Charlotte Hornets.
Highest Scoring Game Of The Night: ATL @ GS
The Atlanta Hawks have averaged 102.2 points per game to rank 14th in the NBA in that department and they will likely have to top that mark in order to hang with the highest scoring team in the association on Tuesday night. The Golden State Warriors are averaging a ridiculous 115.4 points per game – 5.4 points better than the Oklahoma City Thunder for the best mark. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are the obvious studs if you can fit those two players on your roster, but if you can’t then you might want to look to a pair of value options from the Hawks. Kent Bazemore in particular has really picked up his production of late by averaging 11.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 three-point shots per game over the last seven days and he might be the best bet as a sleeper option from this matchup for Tuesday night.
