While they have spent most of the season in the driver seat for the ACC regular season title, North Carolina has found themselves in a position where they must now win at one of the most hostile campuses in the country for college basketball. Yes, that is right, Roy Williams and his Tar Heels must travel up the road to Durham and beat Duke in their own building.
For those who don’t remember, just a few weeks ago the two teams mixed up in Chapel Hill, where the Tar Heels dominated most of the game on the defensive end, on the offensive end, and in the physicality department.
It was a game that, if one simply watched without a scoreboard, they would likely pick the Tar Heels to be leading by double digits and well on their way to a victory. However, there are scoreboards and there are box scores. Those scoreboards and box scores pointed towards a Duke victory in the end. It was one of the most shocking results of the season, given the way that most of the game have gone.
As Miami has closed the gap on North Carolina, even after being blown out in Chapel Hill, the pressure that has mounted on Williams and the Tar Heels has led to this moment. They must now avenge one of the most heartbreaking losses of their season away from home and then again that, should they lose, would cost them a chance for sole possession of the ACC regular season title.
