On last week’s episode of Lucha Underground, we saw plenty of great matches that built momentum for some of the top wrestlers in the company. Sexy Star was victorious in her match against El Mariachi Loco, who unfortunately hasn’t found a victory yet for himself. Pentagon Jr. defeated Super Fly, letting out his anger after Chavo Guerrero betrayed him in the Aztec Warfare match. King Cuerno and Drago continued, and possibly ended, their feud with a Last Luchador Standing match, where Cuerno won by tying Drago to the ring post. What might be the most important moment of the night, however, is when Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco, and Bael ended up turning on their crew leader, Big Ryck.
Tonight features Prince Puma, taking on “The Machine,” Cage. Two weeks ago, Prince Puma successfully defended his Lucha Underground Championship against Fenix, and was viciously attacked from behind after the match by Cage. Cage made a statement, and Prince Puma looks to get some payback.
This recap is part of a series that is recapping the entirety of Lucha Underground. If you would like to catch up on previous recaps, click here for the recap of the last episode. Currently, Lucha Underground airs Wednesdays on El Rey Network, and is now available on iTunes.
Mil Muertes (w/Catrina) vs. Fenix
The last time we saw Mil Muertes, he suffered his first defeat in the Aztec Warfare match for the Lucha Underground Championship. He was the freshest competitor in the match, entering at #20 out of 20, but he was a big target, causing Johnny Mundo and current Lucha Underground Champion, Prince Puma, to team up for his elimination. Mil Muertes is ready to turn it up a notch.
Fenix has been a very great competitor in the last few weeks, lasting almost the entire Aztec Warfare match after entering at #1. This match has also shown that Fenix will fight his hardest until the very end of the match.
Mil Muertes hits Fenix with a superplex, but Fenix was able to position his body to cover Mil Muertes for the quick victory, giving Mil Muertes two straight losses after previously being undefeated. Winner: Fenix
Argenis, Super Fly, & Aerostar vs. Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco, & Bael
The “crew” of Castro, Cisco, and Bael is apparently without a leader now, after they turned on Big Ryck last week. Even though they don’t have Big Ryck giving them orders, they still work as a very effective unit. Argenis, Super Fly, and Aerostar on the other hand, are three seperate, but very talented, luchadores. The individual talents of these three men can help them, but being a strong unit is essential in any tag team match.
After a match with plenty of great spots, Cortez Castro and Mr. Cisco hit a 3-D combined with a Codebreaker on Aerostar for the win. Winners: Cortez Castro, Mr. Cisco, & Bael
Prince Puma (w/Konnan) vs. Cage
Prince Puma is one of, if not the, best luchador in all of Lucha Underground. He has been impressive since his first match against Johnny Mundo, all the way up through his title defense against Fenix. Cage hasn’t been able to show a lot of what he can do, since he has only had one match, but he made a statement after laying out the champion two weeks ago.
Prince Puma goes for the 630 splash, but Cage pushes the ref into the ropes to stop Prince Puma. That, along with a low blow to Prince Puma, caused the disqualification. Winner (via disqualification): Prince Puma
After the match, Cage beats down Prince Puma, and Konnan interferes, which wasn’t the wisest decision. Cage picks up the Lucha Underground Championship, and hits Konnan in the head, busting him open, and stands tall to end this episode of Lucha Underground.
