WrestleMania is the biggest WWE event of the year, and this year, it is one of the biggest WrestleManias yet. This year, WrestleMania 32 is so big that along with the probable attendance record, WWE had to schedule three matches for the pre-show. For these three matches (one of them being a championship match), we are joined by Byron Saxton, Jerry Lawler, and Mauro Ranallo on commentary.
Kalisto (c) vs. Ryback – United States Championship
There were some apparent technical issues at the arena, so this match is happening in front of about a third of what the crowd is supposed to be. It is kind of sad that a championship match is on the pre-show, but it will do a good job at getting the fans excited for the rest of the show.
This match has come to fruition after Ryback kept taunting Kalisto about his size. Ryback has every size and strength advantage imaginable compared to most of the roster, and especially to Kalisto. Ryback does not believe that someone as small as Kalisto cannot be a believable champion, and a champion should have the size and strength of Ryback.
While trying to pull Kalisto from the corner, Kalisto ends up ripping off the second turnbuckle. Kalisto reverses a powerbomb attempt by Ryback, and hits a drop toehold, leading to Ryback hitting his head on the exposed turnbuckle, followed up by a Salida Del Sol for Kalisto’s first WrestleMania win. Winner, and STILL United States Champion: Kalisto
One match in and I’m already wrong with a prediction, and happy at that.
Team Total Divas (Eva Marie, Brie Bella, Natalya, Alicia Fox, & Paige) vs. Team B.A.D. & Blonde (Naomi, Tamina, Lana, Emma, & Summer Rae)
I still have no idea why this match is happening, but here we are. What is intriguing about this match, however, is that this match features the in-ring debut of Lana, who was formerly the manager/valet for Rusev. It is also the return of Emma and Summer Rae to in-ring action on the main roster. Depending on whether or not the rumors are true, this could be Brie Bella’s last match before retirement.
Naomi looks to put Brie Bella away, but Brie Bella counters into the Yes Lock to put Naomi away for the win. Winners (via submission): Team Total Divas
After the match, Nikki Bella, who is currently injured (but in her ring gear for some reason), came down to the ring to celebrate with her co-stars. Now I have gotten two pre-show matches wrong for predictions. Also, Lana did surprisingly little in her in-ring debut, but at least she didn’t take the fall.
In-Ring Segment
Lita is in the ring to make a “huge announcement.” After hyping the triple threat match later tonight between Sasha Banks, Charlotte and Becky Lynch, Lita reveals the new WWE Women’s Championship. This means that Charlotte is the last-ever Divas Champion, and the winner of the triple threat match will be the first WWE Women’s Champion. This is a huge step forward for the women in WWE, and whoever wins is more than deserving of the honor. Also, the belt looks better than the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
The Usos vs. The Dudley Boyz
This feud began months ago when the Dudley Boyz turned on the Usos after winning an eight man tag team match. After putting Jimmy and Jey Uso each through a table, the Dudleys did away with tables permanently, as well as just being angry at everybody. Jimmy and Jey Uso are ready to get revenge on the Dudley Boyz by picking up a victory tonight.
After the Dudley Boyz failed a 3-D attempt, D-Von Dudley gets hit with a superkick, giving the Usos a WrestleMania victory. Winners: The Usos
After the match, the Dudleys get the tables, and it backfires when the Usos both hit a splash on D-Von and Bubba Ray Dudley, getting a big WrestleMania moment, and making me 1/3 on predictions.
Tune in a 7ET on the WWE Network for WrestleMania 32!
