Zurich Classic Of New Orleans Fantasy Lineup

The PGA Tour shifts to Louisiana this week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans from TPC Louisiana. This week’s event will feature one of the weaker fields of the year so far but it will also provide fans with the opportunity to build a pretty formidable fantasy lineup with a strong combination of strong superstar options and quality value plays. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this week’s DraftKings PGA tournaments.

Jason Day, $12,500

Day is the best player in a relatively weak field by a long shot and he should be ready to bounce back from a poor performance at Harbour Town in which he admitted that fatigue had taken its toll on him. Day recorded a pair of wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and WGC-Accenture Match Play before rallying for a top-10 finish at The Masters and a week off could work wonders for him at Louisiana. He is by far the most expensive option on the board at $12.5K but considering his position as the obvious favorite it only makes sense to roll with Day as our top pick.

Danny Lee, $8,500

There is a significant drop off between Day and our next best pick but the reality is we are unwilling to spend big on players like Rickie Fowler and Justin Rose when there is some strong value options elsewhere. Lee has made the cut in each of his last three trips to TPC Louisiana including a pair of top-25 finishes the last two years and he should be primed to bounce back after a missed cut at the RBC Heritage. Lee knows this course well and he should produce a very solid performance at a reasonable price this week.

Ricky Barnes, $7,800

The combination of Barnes’ recent play and the fact that he is available at just $7.8K makes him a solid option that should be a lock in most golf fantasy lineups this week. Barnes is coming off back-to-back top-10 finishes after tying for fourth at the Valero Texas Open last week and while he is still looking for his first PGA Tour win, it is impossible to ignore how efficient he has been the past two weeks. He’s been one of the most consistent golfers this season. Barnes will be overlooked by a lot of gold enthusiasts, so make sure you don’t make the same mistake this week.

Bob Weekley, $7,800

Weekley has made the cut the last three years at this event, including a solo-third here last year and a T-6th back in 2013. His four-career top-15 finishes on this course make him look very attractive at just $7.8K and he has rounded in to form over the past few weeks with made cuts at three straight events heading in to this week. We’re not expecting him to win but we need a safe play that will show well for us.

Morgan Hoffman, $6,700

With Day locked in as our top star option and three strong value plays at reasonable prices locked up in Lee, Barnes and Weekley we will have just over $13K to spread out over our final two picks. Hoffman has made the cut all three times he has played at TPC Louisiana and he is coming off a top-25 finish at Harbour Town. That is more than enough to convince us he is a strong sleeper option for this week’s contests.

Tom Hoge, $6,600

Hoge is another excellent sleeper option as he enters this tournament coming off a top-10 finish at the Valero Texas Open last week. He failed to make the cut at this tournament a year ago but that was because of the 73 he shot in the opening round rather than the 68 he shot in the second round. The potential is there for him to carry over the level of play that he showed in the second round a year ago and build off at top-10 finish last week as another strong sleeper pick for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
