Baseball Picks: Atlanta Braves Favored on Friday Night vs. New York Mets

Baseball Betting:  The Atlanta Braves host the New York Mets on Friday night in what could be a low-scoring game.  The Mets are expected to send Zack Wheeler to the mound while the Braves counter with Julio Teheran. Every game is basically a must-win now for the Braves as they try and make up ground in the National League Wild Card race.  Let’s look at Friday’s game and baseball picks.

Probable Pitching Matchup – Wheeler vs. Teheran

Zack Wheeler hasn’t gotten a ton of run support this season so his overall record is even at 10-10. His ERA is decent at 3.61 and he normally keeps the team in the game.  Wheeler is 1-1 in his last three starts with a 5.52 ERA. He is 3-2 in his career against the Braves with a 3.35 ERA.

Julio Teheran hasn’t gotten much run support either as he comes into this game with a record of 13-12 even though his ERA is under three at 2.89.  The Braves simply are not scoring many runs. Teheran pitched really well last time out against the Rangers as he went 8 innings and allowed just three hits and three runs, none of which were earned.  He got stuck with the loss as his team scored just two runs. That has been a similar theme for Teheran who has lost his last three starts even though he has pitched well.

Game Notes

This is the fourth game of the most important home stand of the year for the Braves.  They are playing 10 games at home before finishing the season with a three-game road trip at Philadelphia.  The Braves probably need to win at least eight of 10 to have a realistic chance to make the playoffs.  They have won six of the last 10 overall against the Mets with four of the last five going under. They have also won six of the last 10 in Atlanta in the series but the games have been higher scoring with three of the last four going over the baseball betting total.

Baseball Picks

This is simply a must-win for the Braves so we’ll look for Atlanta to win this one and for the game to go under the total.
