Tomorrow night features the annual Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View (only on the WWE Network). Money in the Bank became a Pay-Per-View because of the ladder match with the same name, only previously taking place at WrestleMania. Even though the ladder match is the whole reason for the name of tomorrow’s event, it is only one match on a fairly stacked card. WWE has gone to promote this event as the greatest Money in the Bank Pay-Per-View of all time. As usual with big WWE events, it is time to preview the event and give you my predictions.
The Dudley Boyz vs. The Lucha Dragons
If you read the header of this match and thought that you never heard that this was happening, you are not alone. WWE announced this match a couple of days ago on Twitter, and this will most likely take place on the Kickoff show. This is probably a way for WWE to create a bigger card for such a hyped event.
Prediction:
There is literally nothing to go on for my prediction for this match. Do the established veterans win, or do they give the rub to the former NXT Tag Team Champions? Who cares? Winners: The Lucha Dragons
Golden Truth vs. Breezango
This is another match that was announced on Twitter along with the previous tag team match. Golden Truth and Breezango have been involved in a feud over the past few months that was based on whether or not Goldust and R-Truth would ever become a tag team. Now that R-Truth and Goldust have joined forces, they have yet to win a match together, including two consecutive losses to Breezango.
Prediction:
I don’t think that WWE will put much thought into this match. That being said, the result will probably be the same as the last two times these two teams squared off. Winners: Breezango
Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews
A few weeks ago, Apollo Crews was attacked by Sheamus for being a part of the “New Era.” Since then, Sheamus and Crews have not really encountered each other, but have both been featured on television and have won their respective matches.
Prediction:
This is Apollo Crews’s first Pay-Per View match, so he has to win. There have been stranger things, but I think that Crews has this one in the bag. Winner: Apollo Crews
Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler
For such a hyped event, this seems like a really long Kickoff Show with a couple of big matches. This is the third consecutive Kickoff Show that Ziggler and Corbin face each other, and hopefully this will be the last time so that they can both do something interesting.
Prediction:
Corbin has won pretty much the entire feud at this point, and he could use a victory that isn’t aided by a low blow. For someone who was so dominant in NXT, this win is necessary for Corbin to seem credible on the main roster while keeping (or getting, for that matter) fan interest. Winner: Baron Corbin
Charlotte & Dana Brooke vs. Becky Lynch & Natalya
After such a big Women’s Championship reveal at WrestleMania, the title is not even defended tomorrow. This gives Charlotte two free months on her title reign. On Monday Night Raw last week, Paige defeated Charlotte in a non-title match, so Paige should be fighting for the championship. Instead, we get a tag team match where Charlotte and Natalya face each other yet again, and Becky Lynch is there just because she doesn’t like her opponents. Hopefully this match will lead to a Women’s Championship match in the near future.
Prediction:
This is the perfect time for Natalya and Becky Lynch to get some revenge on Charlotte and Dana Brooke. Brooke taking the pin would be the optimal way to continue the champion/protege tension, to protect Charlotte from taking the pin, and to give Lynch and Natalya a Pay-Per-View victory. Winner: Becky Lynch & Natalya
Rusev (c) vs. Titus O’Neil – United States Championship
Rusev, the self-professed greatest United States Champion of all time, dominated Kalisto at Extreme Rules to win the gold. During Rusev’s matches, Titus O’Neil has decided to intervene with post-match beatdowns because it isn’t American (or something like that). After doing nothing, Titus O’Neil earned a title shot.
Prediction:
Rusev was the first person in a long time to elevate the United States Championship to a credible title before John Cena’s US Open Challenge, so keeping the title on the Bulgarian Brute would be a good idea, especially since it is only a month after winning it. Winner, and STILL United States Champion: Rusev
The New Day (c) vs. The Club vs. The Vaudevillains vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass – WWE Tag Team Championship
The New Day has been wildly successful in their Tag Team Championship reign. Since SummerSlam, they have held the belts, defeating all competitors. Now that there is a tag team renaissance, there are several worthy competitors for the Tag Team Championship opportunity. With that in mind, this ended up being a fatal four-way match.
Prediction:
A fatal four-way match makes me suspicious for the New Day’s chances. The Club has established themselves as a top heel faction, and the Vaudevillains did not really cut it as a heel feud for the New Day. With Enzo Amore, Big Cass, and The Vaudevillains in the match, The Club can pick up the gold while the New Day still looks strong. Winners, and NEW Tag Team Champions: The Club
Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn vs. Cesaro vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Chris Jericho – Money in the Bank Ladder Match
After Extreme Rules, all six of these men won their respective qualifying matches to get a chance to compete in the ladder match. Whoever wins this match will hold a briefcase that they can cash in at any time for a WWE World Heavyweight Championship opportunity. We have seen possible hints for this match through several tag team matches over the last month.
Prediction:
Alberto Del Rio has already won the briefcase and has the lowest chance of winning it again. Jericho, Cesaro, and Sami Zayn are long shots, but they would be surprises, which this match is great for. The top two choices are Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens. They both seem to have the same chance of winning the match, so it is essentially a coin flip. Winner: Kevin Owens
John Cena vs. AJ Styles
John Cena returned to WWE on the Memorial Day episode of Monday Night Raw, where he was attacked by AJ Styles. Styles and Cena are top stars of their respective wrestling worlds, and their collision tomorrow night will be a dream match. On the last episode of Monday Night Raw, Styles and Cena signed a contract to prevent outside interference.
Prediction:
Styles has lost his last two Pay-Per-View matches to Roman Reigns, so it would make sense for Styles to win here. However, I think that towards the end of the match, Styles won’t care for the stipulation and make the Club attack Cena anyway. That way, Styles loses on his own terms, and there is reason for the feud to continue. Winner (via disqualification): John Cena
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins – WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Roman Reigns has held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship three times already in his career, and through all three title reigns, Seth Rollins was injured. Rollins returned at the end of Extreme Rules to attack Reigns and assert himself back in the title picture. Rollins, unlike Titus O’Neil, deserves this title shot because he was never defeated for the belt in the first place. In a highly anticipated match, two former Shield members fight to truly find out who is “The Man/Guy.”
Prediction:
Seth Rollins was a great WWE World Heavyweight Champion who did not get as much credit as he deserves because of the subpar storylines he was a part of. That being said, Roman Reigns has been a fine champion who does not seem like he is going anywhere soon. As much as I hope for a title change, I think that “The Guy” is going to defeat “The Man.” Winner, and STILL WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Roman Reigns
That’s all for my predictions. Tune in tomorrow night to see how many I got correct, and if I can come close to matching my perfect record for Extreme Rules predictions.
